About "GHIR"

Glenlivet Hills International Raceway is a 3-lane, routed, 1/32 scale, slot car race track.  Conceived in the summer of 2009, GHIR was constructed between October of 2009 and March 2010.  GHIR was officially opened Friday night, May 15th as the inagural "Drunken Daddy 500" was held with many friends and neighbors helping to christen the track!

With an average lane length of aproximately 45.5 feet, GHIR has a foot-print of aproximately 12 ft. by 7 ft.  GHIR is powered by a Pyramid LAB32 adjustable powersupply, usually running between 9v and 12v, depending on the type of cars running and the skill level of the drivers.  The cars are controlled via 3 Professor Motor PM2110 controllers.  The track was constructed using "Magnabraid" allowing the use of magnets in the cars when appropriate.  Additionally, the track features a Ultimate Racer 3.0 and Trackmate 2000 timing and scoring software receiving their signal through a Carlson's Slot Cars "Sensor Harness" (Thanks Brent).  The laps times can be recorded to 0.001 of a second.  A nice mixture of Slot.it, Scalextric, Carrera, Revell/Monogram and SCX 1/32 cars (and a few Carrera and SCX 1/43 cars) regularly patrol the track.  For now, the track is used mostly by my neighbors and friends, especially the neighborhood kids (and mine) but, hopefully will be used in the future for some more formal, club racing events!

Thank you for stopping by and taking a look at Glenlivet Hills International Raceway! ~~ David
